First, a young man goes to Iowa and becomes the first African American to win a presidential primary. Now, just a short 5 days later, a woman wins the New Hampshire presidential primary.
This is my country.
How long? The sun has risen on too many broken dreams scattered like shards of glass on a highway. How long? The heat of too many afternoons has baked the hopes of thousands leaving them a wisp of what might have been. How long? We no longer keep calenders, we no longer track the change of seasons. How long?
It has been long enough.
Thank you Iowa. Thank you New Hampshire.
The results of the first two contests leave no doubt that regardless of the final victor, America has already won.
